Emmanuel Ceysson is the contemporary standard bearer for the French legacy begun when the Metropolitan Opera appointed Carlos Salzedo Principal Harp in 1909. With his trademark exuberance and virtuosity, Mr. Ceysson’s performances represent a pinnacle of achievement on the instrument. In rapid succession, Emmanuel won the Gold Medal and a special performance prize at the USA International Harp Competition (Bloomington) in 2004, First Prize and six special prizes at the New York Young Concert Artist Auditions in 2006, and First Prize at the prestigious ARD Competition in Munich in September 2009, thus becoming the first harpist to obtain awards at three major international events. We are thrilled to have him join us for his first AHS National Conference appearance in an opening recital on Wednesday, June 27, 2018.
Mr. Ceysson will work with five (5) students in a class scheduled for Thursday, June 28, 2018 during the American Harp Society National Conference. He suggests students consider preparing French repertoire and/or selections from the 2019 USA International Competition repertoire.
Each student must apply online for consideration by April 15th. Submission of an mp3 or .mp4 recording (limit 20 MB) of their selected piece(s) is required. All files should be named MC_lastname_firstname.mp3. Please note that this recording will be used to qualify the students for participation, and is not an audition.
Students accepted to participate must also register for the National Conference, and pay a $50 masterclass fee before arrival.
